Zero 7 is the acclaimed English downtempo duo consisting of Henry Binns and Sam Hardaker, formed in the late 1990s after years working as studio engineers and remixers (including early work with Radiohead). Rising to prominence with their 2001 debut album Simple Things—a Mercury Prize-nominated blend of lush electronica, soulful grooves, and trip-hop influences—they helped define the chillout era alongside acts like Air and Morcheeba.
Known for atmospheric tracks like “Destiny” and “In the Waiting Line” (featuring vocalists such as Sia and José González), their subsequent albums When It Falls (2004), The Garden (2006), and Yeah Ghost (2009) expanded their cinematic sound with jazz, folk, and experimental elements. Over two decades, Zero 7 has released EPs, singles, and collaborations, including recent work like the 2020 Shadows EP and tracks with Swim Surreal, maintaining their reputation for sophisticated, mood-evoking music perfect for introspective listening.
