Shoegaze Legends CHAPTERHOUSE – Announce Debut Irish Show!
They’ll be performing their Classic Debut Album ‘Whirlpool’ in it’s full glory
NOT an event to be missed
Released in 1991, Whirlpool is widely regarded as a cornerstone of the shoegaze movement. Pitchfork included it in their Top 20 Shoegaze Albums of All Time, praising: “What set Chapterhouse apart – specifically with the release of their debut full-length Whirlpool – was their ability to cross-reference all the elements of shoegaze at once, and gel them cohesively into nine near-perfect tracks,” Pitchfork Magazine.
Selective Memory is delighted to announce that shoegaze legends Chapterhouse are reforming in 2026 for the first time in nearly two decades and will play Whelans on Saturday 22nd November. With most of their upcoming UK and US dates already sold out, the band will make their long-awaited Irish debut in November, performing their seminal debut album Whirlpool in its entirety
Fans of My Bloody Valentine (who recently sold out Dublin’s 3Arena) and Slowdive will be thrilled as the Reading-based pioneers bring their swirling, dream-like soundscapes to Ireland for the very first time. Chapterhouse stood alongside peers such as Ride, Lush and Slowdive at the forefront of the early ’90s alternative scene.
