Death In Vegas is a pioneering English electronic music project led by Richard Fearless (born Richard Maguire). Formed in 1994 alongside co-founder Steve Hellier, the band initially signed to Concrete Records under the provocative name “Dead Elvis,” which became the title of their debut album after legal conflicts forced a change.

Blending psychedelic rock, dub, techno, big beat, and industrial sounds, Death In Vegas emerged from London’s vibrant 90s club scene, where Fearless DJed at iconic spots like the Heavenly Social alongside acts such as The Chemical Brothers.Their breakthrough came with The Contino Sessions (1999), a Mercury Prize-nominated album featuring high-profile guests like Iggy Pop (“Aisha”), Dot Allison, and Primal Scream’s Bobby Gillespie. Tracks like the hypnotic “Dirge” became cult classics, appearing in films, trailers, and even sampled decades later.

Subsequent releases like Scorpio Rising (2002) with Liam Gallagher and Paul Weller, Satan’s Circus (2004), Trans-Love Energies (2011), Transmission (2016), and the recent Death Mask (2025) showcase their evolving sound—shifting from sample-heavy electronica to live instrumentation and krautrock influences.Live, Death In Vegas deliver intense, immersive performances blending rock energy with electronic pulses.
