ABOUT
Formed in the forested solitude of Bobcaygeon, Ontario, Timber Timbre’s journey began with the release of their self-titled album in 2009, which quickly garnered attention for its eerie yet beautiful restraint. Their music, often described as coming from an alternate universe of blues, has since evolved, incorporating elements of rock, electronic sounds, and a distinct 80s synth influence, particularly evident in their critically acclaimed album, “Sincerely, Future Pollution.”
Taylor Kirk’s voice, a rich baritone, serves as the anchor to their spectral sound, weaving narratives that are both personal and universally resonant, exploring themes of love, decay, and existential dread. Over the years, Timber Timbre has expanded from Kirk’s solitary recordings to a more collaborative effort, bringing in talents like Mathieu Charbonneau and Simon Trottier, enhancing their sonic palette with each release.
Their music has found its way into popular culture, featuring in series like “Breaking Bad” and “Russian Doll,” showcasing their ability to craft songs that linger in the mind long after the last note fades. Their performance at Whelan’s, a venue known for hosting both emerging and established acts in an intimate setting, promises an experience where the boundaries between past and future, reality and fiction, blur into the night. This concert is not just a musical event but a journey into the depths of Timber Timbre’s hauntingly rich musical landscape.
